The Music Glimpse from Podlog is the first in a series of cultural events presented by Hiša Podlog / Cultural residency Podlog pod Bohorjem, where we aim to enrich the cultural offering of the region and invite audiences to the inspiring landscape of Kozjansko.

The inaugural edition of the Music Glimpse from Podlog, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of death of composer Josip Ipavec, who was born in municipality of Šentjur and has greately shaped the musical landscape of the region. The theme for the first concert was inspired by Ipavec’s work  »Wild flower and lvy« and it will be presented by the internationally renowned soprano Mojca Bitenc and pianist and conductor Simon Dvoršak.

Mojca Bitenc is without exaggeration one of the international singing stars on the rise. She graduated at Academy of Music, University of Ljubljana in class of Barbara Jernejčič Fürst and completed her postgraduate degree at the Zagreb Academy of Music in the class of Vlatka Oršanić. Mojca has in recent seasons made numerous acclaimed role debuts, including in the role of Tatjana (Tchaikovsky’s Yevgeny Onegin) at Belgian Zomeropera Festival, Almavivo (Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro) and Micaële (Bizet’s Carmen) at the prestigious Bregenz Summer Festival.

Pianist and conduct Simon Dvoršak is a regular artistic partner of orchestras such as the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of National Opera and Ballet in Maribor, the RTV Slovenia Symphony orchestra and as a guest conductor with orchestras in Austria, United Kingdom, Croatia and Romania. Simon Dvoršak is graduate of Faculty of Education, University of Maribor (mentorship of prof. Jože Fürst) and graduate of the conductor’s class of acclaimed maestro Marko Letonja at the Academy of Music, University of Ljubljana.

Practical information about the event:

The event will take place in a natural amphitheatre by the pond on the estate of Hiša Podlog on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 18:00. The event will be presented in the format of “lawn concert”, so we advise visitors to wear relaxed clothes and comfortable shoes. To make the concert experience as pleasant as possible, we will provide pillows and blankets.

Admission to the event is free.
