After the very successful first ‘Music Glimpse from Podlog’, we are thrilled to invite you for our second concert organized by Hiša Podlog / Cultural residency Podlog pod Bohorjem. In the embrace of inspiring nature of Kozjansko region and pleasant atmosphere of our natural amphitheater, we are excited to present our second concert with internationally renowned violinist Tanja Sonc.
With the inaugural edition of the Music Glimpse from Podlog, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of death of composer Josic Ipavec, who was born in municipality of Šentjur and has greatly shaped the musical landscape of the region. After our first concert’s theme was inspired by Ipavec’s work »Wild flower and lvy«, our second concert will celebrate the exceptional women of Ipavec family. The nieces of Benjamin and Gustav Ipavec, Marija, Amalija and Fani have together with Mariann Gallowitsch formed an exceptional string quartet that has been actively performing across the Austro-Hungarian empire. The highlight of quartet’s performing career was among others also the performance at the prestigious Musikverein in Vienna.
Our guest, violinist Tanja Sonc will together with her string quartet present the popular work of Benjamin Ipavec “Serenade for strings” (arranged for string quartet) and Dvořák’s string quartet no. 12 in F major, Op. 96 “American”.
